The Managing Director Bolt Nigeria Limited 9, Professor Gabriel Olusanya Street Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State
Nigeria.
Dear Sir,
RE: INTRODUCTION OF PROFESSIONAL E – HAILING DRIVERS AND PRIVATE – OWNERS ASSOCIATION AND REQUEST FOR SYNERGY MEETING
We refer to our letter dated the 8th day of September, 2020 in respect of the above subject matter which your company failed, refused and neglected to acknowledge. A copy of our said letter of 8th September, 2020 is hereby enclose for ease of reference.
In spite of our letter under reference wherein we introduced our association to your company as the body recognized by Trade Union Congress (TUC), International Labour Organistation (ILO) and relevant Government Ministries, Agencies and Parastatal in Nigeria as the umbrella registered e – hailing drivers union in Nigeria, your company has failed, refused and/or neglected to honour our request for a meeting to discuss issues beneficial to all e – hailing drivers in Nigeria and to fashion out harmonious relationship that will benefit, dignify and improve the standard of living of e – hailing drivers/private car owners as well as the general standard of e – hailing business in Nigeria
We are saddened that despite the unprecedented increase in the price of fuel, motor vehicles spare parts, food items and other essential items/commodities in Nigeria and rather than your company considering fixing a new and reasonable fare in line with the unprecedented increase, your company has recklessly continued to maintain the low fare and/or reduce the fare payable per trip by the riders thereby impoverishing hard working young Nigerians who were diligently and lawfully trying to make a decent living.
We have also noticed that your company has unilaterally continued to block drivers without any justifiable reason and without any opportunity to defend allegation, if any, against them thereby denying them their fundamental right to fair hearing.
Consequently and in view of your nonchalant attitude, continuing abuse, unfriendly/inhuman treatment and unjustifiable unilateral blockage of e – hailing drivers from your data base in Nigeria, we shall be compelled and left with no other option than to moblise/organize our members for an embarrassing protest against your company should you fail to meet with the leadership of the union on or before the close of business on the 15th day of April, 2021 to fashion out a more beneficial arrangements that will better the lives and standard of living of all e – hailing drivers in Nigeria.
We shall in addition consider legal action in court to seek appropriate damages and injunctive remedies against your company.
Thank you in anticipation of your cooperation.
Yours faithfully,
PROFESSIONAL E-HAILING DRIVERS AND PRIVATE OWNERS ASSOCIATION (PEDPA)
