PEDPA wish to commends every single driver that complied and participated in yesterday warning protest which was a clarion call for justice at the same time an opportunity to shown our dissatisfaction against the dictatorial app companies lopsided and anti-driver unethical business model
We are saying that drivers are the owners of the transportation business that these app companies are purportedly owned and selling cheaply to the riders at the expense of drivers impoverishment.
We are saying that the drivers community representatives union must be fully involve in the business process service unit of every app companies that is willing to operate in Nigeria and such app company must comply with guidelines on drivers welfare and safety as set out by PEDPA in the following area
*1. Setting of trips fare and other fee*
*2. Blocking of drivers or deactivation
*3. Comprehensive trip insurance
*4. Riders profiling requirement
*5. Review of terms and conditions and compliance with government regulation
PEDPA has sent out letters to these app companies for a round table discussion on how to work out a modality to arrest all the grey area that is affecting our drivers life and welfarism. We have also stated that payment of licensing fee to government is not enough for an app companies to run business or seeking the services of our drivers but all app companies must be ready to comply with the union set out guidelines on welfare and safety of both drivers and riders going forward as driver community can no longer be taken for granted anymore
We are going to be giving these app companies 7days ultimatum to reply to our Letter and signify their willingness for this round table discussions or face a massive action of our drivers community under the Professional e-hailing drivers and private association (PEDPA).
We have also written to the Lagos state governor and the ministry of transportation to effect the removal of drivers badge and vehicle tag from the list of required document to be personally acquired by the drivers as this responsibility is the duty of app companies to the drivers on their platform and PEDPA will not allowed any additional documentation levies against our drivers
GREAT E-HAILING DRIVERS COMMUNITY! The time to have a common interest is now as our disunity has been a strong weapon for this app companies who will never undermine or withstand the outcome of the power of our unity.
*We are hopeful that these app companies will take advantage of this 7days ultimatum or get ready to face massive protest that will shot them down, as drivers community will not hesitate to withdrawn our services from app companies who refused to comply.
